Glossier is the biggest thing in beauty since Rachel's iconic 1994 'do. The four year old brand has made its mark on modern make-up, or better yet no make-up. The brand's motto is summed up as "skin first, makeup second", giving a brand to woman who live by the line, less is more. Emily Weiss, the CEO of glossier, bore the idea from her 2010 beauty blog, Into The Gloss. Launching skin care products and makeup in adorable containers has made this young company into a multi-billion dollar empire with a One Direction level cult following. Yet, with all this excitement, is Glossier really up to scratch?

I decided to try one of their top sellers, Balm Dotcom, the ultimate skin salve in Birthday. When I first opened the packaging I was delighted by the extra effort the company puts into their packaging. A giant "Glossier" printed tape covered the front, inside the box was a pale pink and the inside of the lid read "Skin First. Makeup Second. Smile Always." I was treated with the memorable pink ziploc bag packaging and a free sample of Glossier You. Glossier also added some adorable stickers, which I soon after stuck to my laptop, phone, and glossier pouch. There was also a note from Glossier reading, "HI Finally we meet! It's really nice here. -Us." Although I took it first to be a little creepy, I soon warmed up to the idea of meeting Glossier through this odd note. On first glance the Birthday Balm Dotcom packaging is very pretty, a rectangular box with pictures of glossy lips and cake crumbs covering the sides. The actual tube is sparkly and eye catching as well, stating the product in both english and french. The consistency is that of icing (there's an obvious theme). The taste is vanilla and sweet, not like any birthday cake I've had but like ones I want to. I've been using the balm daily for the past week and noticed a really nice improvement. It makes the lips a lot softer and there remains no torn or dead skin (gross!). It stays on for up to five hours. You only need a drop to cover all your lips. The tube is small and easy to slip in your bag or pocket, making it handy when your on the go or in class.

There is no question why this is a big hit! It has wonderful packaging, good results, and tastes great! Glossier has won me over and I will definitely buy again. Next time I will try a different flavour, maybe cherry or rose, and report back. This was definitely a good purchase. I wish the tube was a bit bigger though, it is not a lot of 15$, but it will last a long time. Overall, I give it a 9/10! 🌟 If you want to check out Glossier for yourself, here is a link to their shop! https://www.glossier.com/
